That may help others but i never had any problems changing my 73 to a 79 tilt . Bolted it in and plugged the wire harness in , every thing worked . Or are you talking about an after market column ? If so that information is helpful because my 79 tilt is not in good condition and i have been wanting an after market one.

Tilt wheel introduced in 1978.

1967/77 F100/350: NSS located on the column.

1978/79 F100/350: NSS located on the transmission. C4 uses a different NSS than C6.

Red face turn signal switch replacement

I had to take apart the wires at the plug to replace the turn signal switch at the same time. So I had to trace out the wires before changing anything.

I had to change the wires in my tilt as well...what the heck is up with Jim being able to plug and play?

73 to 79 also.

I think Ford did some pretty random/undocumented stuff at times. Weird!

Just replaced the turn signal switch on my 78 non-tilt. Took maybe 15 minutes. The lower plastic that bolts to dash pops right off and there was a hole in the steering column the same shape as the connector on turn signal switch. Ran it right through hooked it up and was done. I used a NOS Ford switch.
