65 72 wireing

Cool 65 72 wireing

putting a 72 column in my 65.72 wireing is not the same could someone help
match them up. thanks

Do you have the wiring schematic for the 65? If so you can use a multimeter to shoot the wires on the column to see which ones have continuity between wires when you use the turn signal. Remember there is a single power wire for both turn signals. To find the horn contact the black lead (-)to the body of the steering column, red lead to the remaining wires and press the horn. The flasher switch will have a single lead that is the power wire. It uses the existing turn signal wires to flash both sides. Ignition wire are the same deal as the turn signals. I hope this helps more then confuses.

Big Connector:

White/Blue stripe: Right Front Turn Signal/Indicator on Instrument Panel
Green/White Stripe: Left Front Turn Signal/Indicator on Instrument Panel
Blue/Yellow stripe: Ground for horn
Red/Black Stripe: Brake Pedal Switch (12 VDC when brake pedal is depressed.
Blue: Turn Signal Flasher (Provides 12 volts to Turn Signals)

Green: Right Rear Turn Signal/Stop Lamp
Yellow: Left Rear Turn Signal/Stop Lamp

Connect the following color wires together.
White/Blue Stripe on steering column: Connect to White/Blue Stripe on big connector


Green/White Stripe on steering column: Connect to Green/White Stripe on big connector


Black/Red Stripe on steering column: Connect to Red/Black Stripe on big connector

Blue on steering column: Connect to Blue on big connector

Yellow/Black Stripe on steering column: Connect to Green on little connector

Light Green on steering column: Connect to Yellow on little connector

Wow I was way off. Sorry about that. I'm going to flog myself now.

I wouldn't have thought there'd be that many wires running out of the column.

Not so fast John. Have pity on the poor guy.
I rather suspect something on the order of "30 lashes with a wet noodle" or some other punishment equally severe.
