Due to the cold weather I have been holding out on installing my mini maxx. The weather channel is saying we might have some 30 degree days next week and possibly a 40 degree day!!!!
For those who have installed the mini maxx...Where did you mount the OBDII adapter (the part Im pointing to in the picture)? Im guessing yall zipped tied it somewhere.
I bought the OEM color matching dash mount as well, If anyone has any tips or tricks for running the HDMI cable under the dash that would be nice to. Im guessing Im going to have to pull the weather stripping back and feed the hdmi cable thru the gap in the dash behind the weather stripping in the door jam.
Finally, any and all tips on doing this would be great. It seems pretty straight forward.
I zip tied mine to a bunch of wires under the dash . My MM is around the center console, so I didn't run it up the side of the dash. Sounds like you have a decent plan to run the wiring anyway.
If you don't want to run a wire out to the fuse box and have one of those crappy fuse clips you don't have to. There is a wire under there you can use for trigger. It is either WH-BU or YE-OG. It is taped up with the pass thru wires and PTO etc all in that same bundle (you can't miss it).
I just don't like those fuse clips ......
The difference is tho .... the fuse that H&S tells you to connect to is hot durring cranking. This one is NOT. It is only hot in run. So when you switch to run the MM powers up but then looses power when cranking and powers back up when you go back to run. Mine has been like this for 3 years with no ill effect.
I just think it's cleaner...... nothing has to go thru the fire wall to a fuse clip.
I just zip tied the box and the associated cables to the existing harnesses under the dash.
I actually found it easier to run the power cable through the grommet in the A-pillar, and along under the hood that way than thru the firewall. I have it wired up with the fuse that is suggested by H&S.
My mini maxx instruction booklet doesn't say anything about a fuse for our trucks.. The dodge and Chevy sections list a fuse number and they even list a fuse number for the older fords.
What fuse did you use BigF350???
I located the group of wires under the dash, and unwrapped the tape that was holding them all together.. The white wire with the blue stripe is supposed to give a constant current even when cranking, so says the booklet.

I def want to be able to have a constant current.
Thanks for the input fellas!
You are right, the instructions do now say to go to the WH-BU wire so you can ignore my advice ......
I used fuse 52, which was in my manual (must have gotten the same one as you Darren ) If they now say there isn't an issue using something that is cold during crank, I might change that.

Ya it's weird, they still say "If possible find one that stays hot durring engine cranking" but tell you to use a wire that does not.
