There's basically a special cord that goes to the port, port always has power so that why you have to hard wire it to a ignition source, port cable has a box on the other end, from that box you run your hdmi cable to the mini.
Hope that make sense, I would not buy one with out all the parts...
If your looking to buy one PM me and I will give you the place that sold me mine. Just be ready to shell out like 1700 just for the MM, as there are only a specific type of tuner that will work with the 2013+ trucks without having to go the custom way.
Curious how one would come by a used mini with out all the parts, was it stolen??
I would be cautious going that route, if that mini is still locked to the previous trucks vin, it will cost you a pretty penny from h&s to unlock it...
Yeah I would be very wary about buying a used one for the instances said. Before you buy it I would ask to test it to make sure you can load the tune on your truck just so it works. Also it's not like people are soldering the wires together, most people use a two sided wire crimp connector like the one shown in the video.
Ahh, ok its JUST the power wire missing, it's kinda a DC plug, so will need to get the proper replacement, I would make sure you can power the mini and see that it's not vin locked still
The only part that seems to be missing from the one I'm looking at is that power cable. Is that something I can get from hs?
As Brett mentioned, verify the MM is legit with H&S first. It's a paperweight if they won't unlock it and they won't without proper documentation that you legally own it.
Also, the cord can be purchased from H&S. Ask them if it's a normal HDMI cable.
Edit: Looks like it's just the actually power cable...my bad. Sorry.
Is it a special cord or can I use any wire if I buy a used one without all the parts?
If they just cut the wire and it's too short (you still have the plug end) then you can just use any wire. If you don't have the plug just get it from H&S
Hey Matt, did you say that race tuners will work with the 2013+ 6.7s now??
A special batch of them will work with the 2013s and 2014s, which at least if was told by the shop that I ordered from. They also guarantee it to work or my money back with them paying shipping. I am pretty irritated right now. Somehow Fedex delivers my 5 inch exhaust ahead of time and UPS is stuck in Illinois due to "adverse weather conditions". Completely messes up the flow of v day for me in the wife this weekend. I will update more when I actually get mine!
The switched 12V trigger is a DC coaxial barrel connector as colloquially referred to in the electronics industry. I believe a 2.1mm or 2.5mm would work on the H&S Mini and the Bully Dog units. Or because they're literally like $1.75, just get a variety of them. IEC 60130-10 Type B to be perfectly technical.
Take a broken or un-needed power adapter ("wall wart"), check connector fitment, and chop the end off the transformer side and use the cord end. This type of connector is common enough that I bet even "normal" people have a few kicking around the house.
And i can confirm that a race tuner will work. With the 13s and 14s!
That's GREAT news! Mine is still sitting on the shelf in the garage, next to the delete pipe. I'm waiting for the cheap Chinese bolts that hold the rocketship underneath the truck to rust in two and fall off. When that happens, I'm prepared.
