Alternators?

I would like a 200amp alternator on my 92 f150. I have some big plans and need the power. Has anyone bought one off ebay or should I just shell out the money for one from PA Performance?

one off ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Mustang-3G-LARGE-CASE-Alternator-HIGH-AMP-93-92-91-90-89-87-5-0L-Generator-/360850111099?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item540457ba7b
Also I was looing at pa performance and saw that they have a 21mm ear or a 15mm ear. Which one should I go with?

Your belt will only turn about 130 amps before the belt starts slipping. To get more than 130 amps you would have to replace the pulleys with more groves and a wider belt.

well I dont expect to spin the alternator fast enough to get a full 200 amp but the higher amps at idle is what I am looking for.

This really doesn't matter. running the same load at higher revs will actually work better. Just like using low range to climb a hill, the strain on your transmission is greatly reduced, the same is true with a serpentine belt. Dividing the load up over more revs is a good thing.

What type of electric load do you plan on needed a 200 amp alt for? 6 Pairs of 100w driving lamps? Heated snow plow?

correct.
It rjm was still doing business I would definitely buy one but with them gone or whatever is going on there Everyone has lost a good place to buy good quality products at a reasonable price. now we are left with alternators that seem to good to be true, that no one knows about or companies that everyone knows but hardly anyone can afford. I cant be the only one that has looked for alternators lately. I may not need an alternator bigger than 160amps but I want one. I look at it like this, no one needs a truck with 35s or 38s on a daily driver but we still do it. and thats what defines us. sorry for the rant

Are the larger alternators really more powerful or do they just have larger diodes to take the current. I think that you can get those larger replacement diodes and pimp out an 130A alternator.

My 130A alternator squeals every time I start the truck and a larger one would just do it even more.
