It turns faster and will ultimately create more amp output at lower rpms. Unless the tensioner won't tighten the serpentine belt properly, I don't see any reason to worry about it.

Hell Ya LEAVE the Smaller Pulley On it

Thats part of HOW it will Generate MORE Power at Idel

If the belt slips then you mighrt be Due for Belt and Or Belt Tensioner

Are spacers used with the OEM style alternators? Thought was just the XP billet alternators that needed spacers.

FWIW my 3G has the smaller pulley and no spacers and works just fine.

The OBS 7.3 Powerstroke had the 3G with small pulley.

Even the stock 6G could benefit from the small pulley.

that is why there are spacers, so the OUTSIDE edge of the
pulley is the same distance away, so the belt tensioner
can maintain correct tension.

measure the two pulleys, take the difference in diameter,
and divide it by two.....

that is the thickness of the spacers.... mostly...

the smaller pulley spins faster, and generates more
current at engine idle.... their 270 amp unit does
200 amps output at idle..... ya gotta spin it, there
is no free lunch.

its on and belt is tight and no spacers needed or even came with it. the pulley looks about the same size as my das's 7.3. SGII says 14.2 at idle.
