I took the horn apart on my 75 F250 to take the steering wheel off. This was months ago, and now I don't remember how it goes back together. I have two wires, I see where one goes on the steering column but the other has a weird clip. Then there is a metal bracket I think goes on top. Do any of you have a picture of the assembly? On the diagram I saw they don't really show where the wires are suppose to go to. Should of taken a picture before I took it apart
Oh, simple enough. I think I got it now, I hear the relay clicking but no horn so I guess I will have to check a couple more things.
If you hear the relay clicking then it's probably a problem in the wiring that goes to the horn. Check the yellow w/ green stripe wire that goes from the relay to the horn(s). Use a multimeter, check to see if you have 12V at the horn terminal when the horn bar is depressed. If you show voltage then either there is a bad ground at the horn or the horn itself is bad. If there is no voltage, check the terminal on the horn relay that the yellow/green wire plugs into. If it shows voltage there is a problem with the wire, if no voltage then probably the relay is bad.
If the horn is bad, theycan be disassembled and repaired. They're pretty simple inside, once you get it apart.
