I have to replace the wire to the horn in my 68 F250, it was gone when I bought the truck. The problem is the 67 Ford truck wiring diagram I bought says that the output of the horn relay goes pretty much straight to the horn. When I traced the wires on the horn relay all checked out except what I am assuming is the output to the horn (yellow/green stripe). Instead of running pretty much straight to the horn it goes to the voltage regulator and since the schematic I have doesn't even list the voltage regulator in the horn circuit I am lost. Any help on where the horn wire should land would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Russell
Ok I will give it a shot
The yellow green stripe is power out from the horn relay to the horns. The horns are grounded thru their mounts, so no ground wire is attached. There should be a yellow wire to the horn relay for 12 volts in. There also should be a blue with a yellow stripe wire, this one is the ground to close the relay and make the horn noisy It goes from the horn button to the relay.
Are you sure the wire goes to the voltage regulator? As stated it has nothing to do with the horn.
Why not try running all new wires and not reusing the old ones, well at least the power wire from relay to horns. Dont want to screw up the voltage regulator if the PO made some changes and used the horn wiring
