Have an 08 F350 with V10 automatic. Keyless entry with factory alarm. I want remote start. What is the best route to go? Read somewhere on this forum that the truck has remote start and just needs to be enabled. Is this true? I have installed remote start a couple times on older vehicles and it was a major pain. I can't believe it is already on my truck, so I'll ask the experts here, what do I need?
Go to eBay and type in 2008 f350 remote start. Kits are on here and the install is pretty cake from what I've seen. Gotta have it enabled by the dealer and the new key recut. These are Ford OEM kits by the way.
My key fob has a few buttons on it that aren't explained in the owners manual. There are the gray colored lock and unlock buttons. The three that aren't explained
1. a blue button with the front or rear of a car with the hood or trunk up (maybe engine immobilizer or tailgate lock?).
2.A small black button in the center with II on it.
3. another blue button with a snowflake on it. Manual only talks about the lock and unlock buttons and makes mention of a panic button. Bought this truck used so I have no idea what they are for. Was hoping the snowflake was a remote start. Pushed it and all it did was chirp the horn 3 times. The lock button also chirps it 3 times to let you know the alarm is set.
THAT'S IT!! So this isn't the standard Ford remote. Hmmmm. Wonder if it has remote start. Being as the Truck came from Texas, I think not. I'm going to Google autopage and see what I come up with
