Is there a remote start that uses the factory keyless entry remote, and if so what is the brand name and how bad is it to put in ? I have a 2002 F-150 Supercrew XLT with power locks
i dont know of one that uses the factory remote. However there are PLENTY of remote starts that provide their own remote and will lock & unlock the doors. I don't know what kind of VSM your truck has but it might be possible to arm/disarm the factory alarm w/ the locks as well.
I have one on my truck that uses the factory key fob. It was on the truck when I got it. I don't even know where or what to look for in terms of the mechanism. With mine you have to be pretty close to the truck for it to work (the same distance it locks and unlocks the truck).
I accidentally remoted started it a few weeks after I bought the truck. I couldn't even figure out how to duplicate that for another few days. But it is about a simple as it could possibly be. Press the lock button three times ( horn blows on second and third) then the truck cranks up. It works good for when I take my dog with me to the store and it is too hot for her to sit in the heat; I remote start it and she is air conditioned. If someone were to break in while it is running (maybe the dog would get them) push the break to engage gear the truck turns off (unless you insert key and turn to on position.
