ABS light on? If so start with speed sensors. If ABS light is not on then most likely the gauge itself. If you have a good code reader you can check to see if the computer is reporting the speed.
Sorry never noticed the other question. Nope just basically the speed o meter, odometer and tripmeter is not working. I seen in the manuel that there is a relay in the fuse panel for speedometer. Gonna check this first. I assummed that all the gages would be on the same circut. You know what they say about assumeing lol
Sorry I got 2 issues confused. My interior lights don't come on when door is opened. The relay I seen is for that, not the speedometer. Trying to troubleshoot too many issues at once lol
never tried the cruise, if the speedometer isn't working then the cruise won't
Maybe, maybe not.
If the VSS is working but the cluster is defective, the cruise will still work correctly (assuming no other faults). A faulty VSS will take out both functions which is why I asked the specific question.
There is both a madness and a method to my questions.
As much as I'm tempted to go check the cruise I'll have to hold off on that. It snowed here last night and using crusie on snow covered roads seems like a bad idea lol
That's the sensor that detects drive train rotational speed which is mathematically converted into ground speed.
Also, if the (automatic) transmission shifts correctly, that would usually mean the VSS is okay. If the VSS were out, the PCM wouldn't be able to properly schedule transmission shifting.
