That would be a good question to have Crystal with Ford Customer Service look into for you. I've never heard of anybody doing it with a truck, but I have seen trailer manufacturers reissue a sticker for a trailer to change its rating.
If obviously towing heavy, weight could be brought up after a wreck.
People sue for everything these days.
Exactly. I tow a lot of cars across state lines and DOT are A holes near me. I'm glad I got weighed because my legal towing capacity is no where near the advertised 9600
Who cares, it's not like anyone is ever gonna weigh you besides yourself, Haha!
Keep telling yourself that...
The weight man for our area used our scale for checks quite often as they were certified and easily accessible from I-35.
I can't tell you the number of private pickups both with and without trailers that they brought across our scale. If it is apparent that you are overloaded and they are in the mood, you will see a scale.

I've been scaled with only 2000 in the bed but because I have 35s and they bulge more then the stock tires it can look like I have a lot more weight in the bed
My registration is good to 12k now. What i still dont get is how it all works. Door sticker is 10 but dmv says the class im in is good to 12. I figure if i am covered to 11 that is plenty - it just wont take a whole lot to hit 10. I figure the truck with the cap and normal gear is 9100 or 9200. Worst case that puts me at 800lbs cargo and people to hit 10k. When im loaded for my cabin trips that is really tight. Ill have to get a weight again loaded. 2 more people is 3-400lbs of the 800, and 400-500lbs goes REAL quick.

It's sad what gets allowed down here.
I've seen an s10 hauling at least three times its weight.
Our trucks haul much more than the trucks weight but it's built for it.
In fact, the other day I saw a 1st gen Honda Pilot with a car hauler and a Blazer (I think it was) on it.
The Honda was ready for take off although it was doing surprisingly well.
Troopers will get you but there just isn't many of them around here.
I kid you not, guy who works for my bro-in-law pulled a single wide with a F250 about a month ago......wouldn't have believed it without the video. Might see if I can get it and post it. His words were....we were legal, we had a spotter! Said they past a deputy and he just shook his head. Guess it would have been too much paper work.
