Exclamation Scale weight question

Ok well the prior owner of my truck when he titled it, put the trucks weight at 8800lbs. in turn washinton takes that number and multiplies it by 1.5 and puts that as your max weight. so my truck has now ended up with a 14k max weight and titles and licenced as a commercial vehicle.
well my tabs have finally expired and im going to get them renued, anyone know what kind of weight i can expect to get when i run it over the scales to get the weight fixed.
for reference for tabs on my truck its gonna cost 107, my bro has the same truck but an 85 and it only costs 61 to get tabs.

im hoping i can get it across the scales for 6700 or under, possible??

specs: 89 f350 crew cab, long box, ZF, ATS turbo, 4x4, shackle reversal, 3" blocks in the rear and some 8 ply 315 tires.

honestly our trucks as long as we dont put too much accesories on them they should weigh only around the 6000 - 7000 mark i know mine with the headache rack and my chains and such that i usually carry weighs around 6200 which is only 3 ton and tbh your PO is an idiot in my opinion. but i dont know what he used it for it coulda been a haul truck and such as that you have to do things that will make it so it reg. as a commmercial vehicle. but as long as its not being used as one you can tell them that its not and they should reg. it as a normal vehicle

empty everything out, take it to the truck scales on the highway when they're closed, read your weight off the screen thats facing toward you in the window, and know where you are. then you know what to expect when you get weighed formally.
as mikey said, tell them its just a daily driver, no commercial use, and they should license it that way with no problems

My sclwt is like 5137 or something stupid... which is good, because that means I dont have to take it through emissions, but it is pretty far off...

However... Im calling BS on the 6900 brandon... Our trucks are pretty much the same, and my truck scales out at 5960...

Just sayin'...

Dana 60'd 38.5" / 15.5" wide tires (heavy azz tires) yep 6900, unless Palmer coking cole scale is way off. Binford metals had me at 8980 gross, 7040 Tare (with small 35s and my fat azz in it) with a net of 1940

Them big ol tires weren't light

I got a few things to contribute here as a WA resident with the same truck:

My 89 CCLB 4wd 7.3 has a scale weight on my title and registraion of 5533lbs. I would think they would let you use the number on your title, which should be the same as mine, but it's government so who knows.

5533lbsx1.5 is 8300lbs but I was able to talk the girls at the DMV into doing it at 8000lbs saving me some money. They go in 2000lbs increments and are supposed to always round up, guess I'm charming

Sure it saves money but to be technically legal you really need to have much more weight then 8000lbs or 10000lbs on your tabs. Technically you are paying for the tonnage allowed on the gross COMBINED weight. While I've never even heard of anyone getting a ticket in rather normal personal use, you and I with small 8000lbs or 10000lbs gross weights on our registration will be breaking the law with just about any decent load or any trailer.

That said on the truck itself technically again we are limited legally to 9200lbs on the truck itself no matter what the registration says.

Edit, how are they figuring your commercial? Commercial is 26,001 lbs.

So did a little research and while it don't really matter to the OP to does me, and cause you all might find i interesting or helpful, I'll post it. I'm in King county, in King County any vehicle under 6000lbs pays a $20 congestion reduction charge. WA State Licensing: King County congestion reduction charge So my 5500lbs truck pays it, if I raised my scale weight to 6001 I don't pay it, but then I'm moved from a 8000lbs gross to 10000 gross which is only $2 more, so by weighing more I pay $18 less

Well my title shows 8600 gvw and they multiplied it by 1.5 and rounded up to 14000lbs.
anything over 10k is labeled as a commercial vehicle in WA and subjected to the commercial weight fees.
thats just what the 2 DMV's told me. Also when i put insurance on my truck, since it was titled above 10k lbs it required a separate insurance policy.
