I have been doing a butt load or reading and trying to keep track of all this stuff. the US guys seem to have an easier time finding the aftermarket pumps like Carrier, so I was looking to upgrade my truck, but use an "off the shelf" part like the Delco pump used on the 6.5 GM trucks.
It looks like a basic inline pump, but I can't find the specs on it. Is it close to our required 33 Gph? Every shop here gives me a deer in the headlights look, or asks what chip the truck has, or tries to sell me a FASS unit for $500.00
If you have the specs on the EP309 or EP319 or have used them in conjunction with the stock fuel filter in its stock location, please let me know.
When I figure out how, I will post some pics of this Pink Beast
Air tex makes sevral pumps that look identical, 3-5 psi 22 gph, 5-7 psi 28 gph, the GM pump is 7-12 psi-32gph, CFFF of a 2micron filter will nock back your pressure, 50% CFFF of a 10 micron about 10%, the iDi consumes about 9oz per min at freeway speed. Warning, to much pressure to ip, (more than 7psi) is not good I heard, Stanadine says 1-4 IMO the GM replacement, pump will b fine with a stock filter head.
Thanks. I plan to keep the stock water separating filter inplace though I am going to cut one in half to check it out . I'm a hydraulic guy so can't ignore filters. Any idea of the relief setting of the Carrier pump?
Thanks
I just installed a 6.5 inline fuel pump in my 88 F350. I had this laying around in a box from a 6.5 I used to have. It works like a charm. the only problem I had was finding the fittings to hook to the new 3/8 hose. I ended up having to use a 12" brake line (hey, it had the 16x1.5 fittings). I cut the line in half, stacked the oring between the ferrule and fitting. works like a champ with no leaks. I thought if I had to, I would come back and flare the lines if it leaked, havn't needed to yet. I just put double hose clamps on each end.
You being a hydraulic guy, probably have these fittings laying around. the pump I used was Alliant Power AP63440. If you find the right fittings, let me know where.
BTW- the truck now runs better than ever, plenty of fuel means plenty of power and less smoke.
