Ok, per the tech folder, Swamps is the place to send your ficm's to for repair.
But somewhere here in a thread, I seem to remember a different source that was listed as the top place to go.
So who really is the best place? I need quick return, and obviously the quality.
Also, am I going to have to replace the filters AGAIN? The temps are supposed to "soar" to +23 today, and over the next few days jump as high as 47! Will the fuel dissolve the gel and everything go back to normal? Or once gelled, it's done? I'm going to be putting some PS "white bottle" in today regardless.
I bought a set of motorcraft as recommended...and as soon as my wife gets home I'm going to go pick them up....but I have to say that I think it's a huge waste of money to toss this brand new filter set. Call me crazy...
Is there any kind of study that shows the actual difference in quality? No offense to anyone, but I could care less if Joe Blow says they are the best so everyone is jumping on the copycat train, vs actual factual studies show that X is the only way to go.

can totally understand that, being a sheep definitely is no way to be.
here's a good video (albeit concerning the oil filter):

Not a study.....but a couple videos explaining some differences in filters.
also, the Motorcraft fuel filters have A water block media on the outside that will catch water before it goes through your system.
Perfect. I was actually thinking that it was an issue with the level of filtration. I didn't realize the rest of it could come into play!
Those videos make perfect sense and definitely close the case.
Also, on day one for me, I posted pictures of my engine compartment. Someone mentioned I had an aftermarket oil cap, to lose it. Now I understand why. ....added to task list.

Thanks!
Lower filter is 10 micron with aquabloc membrane and upper is 2 micron. Aftermarket filters have been shown to restrict flow.
Man, still wont start. The replaced filter was plugged pretty much solid again. Hopefully thisbone doesnt follow suit. Ran the battery down cranking it and cycling glow plugs.

It's like 16 degrees out now... feels like Hawaii.
Well ****. I thought I was in the clear. I get up this morning, and it's -8. Truck starts fine. Just like yesterday, after about 5 or so minutes of warm up (gauges read EOT 132 and EWT 130, it was beginning to blow a little warm....so I decided to leave for work.
I get half way down the culdesac and lose all power, and the truck dies. It won't start. I'm assuming I'm gelled.
Sorry about your issues. Don't feel like the lone ranger on this one. I live near you and quite possibly fuel at the same King Soopers station. My 06 F350 6.0 shut off 3 times on the way to work yesterday. Luckily I had a heated garage to put it in at work. It's running fine so far. But I need to change the filters. My co-worker's 08 F350 6.4 died a mile from his house and had to be towed. He buys his fuel at King Soopers too. But the same people that sell fuel to them sell it to other stations too (something I learned from 7 years of being in the distributor side of the petroleum business). I haven't changed my filters yet. Probably tomorrow.
