Recently with my electrical problems that I thought were fixed, I now have a new issue with the fuse for the tach, it keeps blowing. It seems to do fine once I replace it and the truck is just sitting there idling but once I actually start driving it blows.
This is a new problem and only started after I put in my wire going from the post on the alternator to the start solenoid. Without this wire the fuse panel in my truck had absolutely no power. I already have a post about that issue.
I know people say to try and isolate each individual component that the fuse goes to. This fuse works the Seat belt buzzer, warning indicator, Carb Circuts, Tachometer and Choke heater.
Any clue as to a good way to troubleshoot this problem?
I am almost certain mine is the circuit paper on the back side of the gauges. I have had to do a repair when I first bought the truck. The fuse seems to blow when I turn on the headlights or turn the **** to dim/brighten the display. If it doesn't blow the fuse than when I do those movements with the headlight switch it makes the tach jump all over the place
For me, after many things, this was solved when I replaced the ignition control module. Wanted to post this for others just in case this gave you as much headache as me. Now after 4 years, I haven’t had a blown fuse.
