Coming out of the main wiring harness is the radio connector.
The harness is 2 wire with blue/red stripe being one of them and Black the other.
The blue/red stripe wire is for the light in the radio and the black wire is for radio power that is on the key.
how fast on average does your tachs move at because at most times it goes 1000 -2000 idle is 700 the higest shift point is 3000 my ford explorer is alot faster is my tach not acurate or is my trucks engine speed that slow
The older engines have a lot more cubes so they don't need to wind as high as the newer engines to move a vehicle. They are not "slower", the new stuff is geared lower so it has to wind up to go.
Is it safe to put the tach on the same positive wire as the radio if I do that do I have to put in a bigger fuse because I did that and now the lcd on my radio is not working right Aslo is the dash a good enogh ground today I found that my battery is dead And I think it has something to do with my tach it just doesn't seem to work right It seems slow I know its old and has 400 cubes but at idle is it really going only 100 rpm
Power wire - Attach the power wire to the fuse box (radio fuse) with a female connector.
Illumination wire - Follow lxman1's advice and route the illumination wire to the dash light fuse with another female connector.
Ground wire - The ground wire can be ground to the fuse box screw in the upper left or lower right with a ring connector.
Tach wire - Attach to the coil positive wire or attach a male terminal (found in MSD coil boxes) to the coil terminal and attach the tach wire with a female connector.
I've mounted 5 gauges on my steering column (manual tranny) with a heater duct hose clamp. I bought 3-wire electrical wire @ Home Depot, removed the internals and then ran my gauge wiring through the outer black covering (it matches the column color and looks more professional).
