Traded a toolbox for a homemade headache rack for a full size Chevy. Fits mine just a hair narrower. But will still. Work. Need to Herculine it and mount it still
Well herculiner he rockers and mounted the headache rack. He rack won't be on for very much longer. It doesn't fit well and flexes sway to much from the wind.
Just installed rear Polk 6x8s and a Sony Bluetooth head unit. Tmw the 6 1/2 polks go in the doors. Also picked up a jack and jack stands. Spark plugs. Wires. Tailgate bushing. Clear headlights. Vent visors and wheel bearings. Getting it ready for an 8 hour trip to visit family.
Finished up the speakers today. Huge difference. Now I need some sound deadener. Going to be installing eyelets in the corners of my bed for tiedowns next weekend and possibly paint those rims now that I have a jack. Also sold my dd honda civic si. The ford is now on dd duty. Til I find a motorcycle.
Got the tint done. Started headlights but fords stupid clips got me. One nut is siezed and the screw came out of the headlight. Need to cut the screw still with a cutoff wheel. Also picked up clear rtv mad retaining clip pliers to help remove fords clips. FYI I did get the cheap ebay clear lights with black housing. Also sold my dd civic and got a 2001 yamaha r1 for 3500. Just need to remove the plastidip.
I got retaining clip pliers with swappable tips. Straight 45 and 90. Hopefully the job will go faster. Really could use a headlight that isn't in the trees. Gotta use a Dremal cutoff wheel in my drill to remove the siezed screw that came out of the headlight when I attempted to remove the nut. Also. Sealed up the ebay headlights. That is a must.
Have a leak. But not sure where it is from or what it is. Oil level amongst others are all fine. I'll add a pic of the rear of the block near the trans. Also sold my civic and picked up a 2001 yamaha r1 for 3500 since the ford gas mileage isn't the best. But no more car payments
No tilt or cruise. While replacing my headlights. Realized I was a tad below cold fill level on coolant. So that may be the leak. Finished the headlights. They were horrible to install. Stuck screws and bad fitment. But turned out decent. Next time removing the header panel
I ask because you have an interesting mix of trim on your truck. I sold hundreds of these trucks when I worked at my local Ford store. There were a few trim packages available on the XL…
498A…. tilt/cruise, cloth seat (could be substituted for vinyl), vinyl floor mat, chrome bumper and grille, black aero mirrors, am/fm radio.
499A… std. column, no cruise, vinyl seat and floor mat, no radio, argent 'standard' wheels… bare bones.
500A… std. column, no cruise, cloth seat, chrome front bumper, argent grille and headlight trim, argent standard wheels, chrome mirrors.
The 498A was the most popular as it was actually cheaper than the 500A and only about $400 over the bare bones 499A.
Then there are the "regional packages"… we had "Packerland Specials"…. Texas always has a whole deal to them selves, etc.
Over the years these trucks gain a lot of aftermarket bits due to wear, crash damage, customizing and such.
