Buzzing Noise Under Turbo Load
New member here, so first off thanks for wealth of info I've received over the last few months by simply reading through the threads. It's been great to search for something and someone already had a thread on it with the answer I was looking for.
Well, I come to you all today in search of an answer I cannot find. I just bought a brand new 2013 F-250 King Ranch with the 6.7L Diesel engine in December. I am loving every second with it but there is a noise the truck makes that I cannot figure out what it is. Being that this is my first diesel truck (been with the 5.4L Triton for many years) I don't know if it's normal or not?
I will try to upload a video as soon as I can if I can get my camera to record the noise but here is the description.
Under acceleration, roughly 1,500 RPM and up I hear a buzzing noise coming from what appears to be my left front dash. To me it sounds like fluttering or in a more recognizable sound: a fly trapped against a window. The truck does not make this sound when parked and reving the engine. It only makes it under load and when the turbo starts kicking in. Is this a normal sound?
I took it to my Ford dealership and they said the it was the injectors buzzing and it's completely normal. Its just weird to me how Ford could design the rest of the engine to be very quiet in the cabin, but yet this one "injector" noise is so noticeable.
Anyone have experience with this or know what I'm talking about? I mean it could be completely normal (just one of the many interesting sounds diesels make) I just want to make sure its not a loose connection, pin hole in a hose, bad injector, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
PS. Thanks for letting me join this sweet forum!!
So bummed with the whole situation, not to mention the brake pads have already been replaced twice (in 1.5 months of owning it). It just feels like my lifelong dream of owning a King Ranch 250 is now tarnished.
