help with column removal,
My column went to hell, igntion broke and the metal rod had to be pushed with needle.nose pliers, so i have a new used column. My old column is.all lose and.ready to come out, but i cant get the shift linkage or whatever it is un hooked under the hood. Its like a solid metal thing pressed in a hole with rubber.around.it, any tricks to remove this? Ive been cutting the rubber, tried. Hammer, . My other column somehow was removed without any sign of damage to the piece .

Also, it may help if you TAP on it - with a brass hammer if available - because sometimes that can help break loose rust that's helping hold it together. I'm not concerned about damage to your old steering column, just the related components that you need to keep.
