I got a new cable from oriellys a few month back when mine broke. One of the tabs that hold it in the barket near bottom of the transmission so I went and got another one. The tabs on this one is wanting to flare out and not hold cable still. Nobody else has one for the E4od but they have one for the c6. The picture looks the same but sometime you can't go buy the pictures.
Since non one's replied with a definite answer I say if I had to guess I'd say no since there is nothing similar between the two transmissions at all beyond they are both automatics.
I have been searching around for this answer for days and eventually just went to an auto part store and compared the c6 cable with my existing E4OD stretched cable. The c6 is 59 inches long and the E4OD is 54 inches long. That is the only difference.
AKA the c6 cable will NOT work in a truck/bronco with a E4OD.
If your parts stores are anything like mine here in Phoenix, including dealers, everyone will say the E4OD cable isn't made anymore or shows "NA" with no part number. This isn't true. For some reason they don't show up when looking up vehicles older than 95. For example, i have a 93 F-250 7.3 Diesel, and i had to have them search all the way up to a 95 f-150 V6 to find the cable.
I know the 95 F-150 V6 cable works because i just installed it in my truck so that cable should work for all F series trucks and full size broncos from 92 to 96 with the E4OD transmission, i believe. As long as its 54 inches long and looks exactly like the one you pulled out of the truck, it will work.
I know this thread is from 2005, but it comes up on google search with searching C6 to E40d or anything of the like, so i figured id answer the question for anyone else that finds it!
Well I wouldn't know that for sure but according to autozone, there is a v6 and a v6 bi-fuel for 1995 Ford f150. So regardless if there was or was not really a v6 in 95, that is what you tell autozone if you want a e4od shift cable for full size F series and broncos 92 to 96.
That's just annoying man.. There's no need for you to start an argument over that. I'll be leaving this forum if that's how people are going to react to someone trying to post useful information. No one said thanks. No one said it was good info. Only person was you posting to point out a tiny flaw in my wording that really doesn't make a difference. You tell the guy at autozone a v6 he is going to pick the one that has a 6 next to it.
Nothings worse than someone replying only to correct someone else on something that really could have been left alone.
I stand corrected, I should have said "6 cylinder" but either way the outcome is still the same.
Actually if you'd check your user control panel you'd see that I did thank you; I gave you reps because I think it is good information and it closes the open end of this thread.
Um, the "annoying argument" is yours. I made one very short post clearing up a piece of misinformation, which you evidently felt compelled to turn into an argument. Sorry you didn't take the first post at face value.
Nothing's worse than sending someone looking for parts for a truck with an engine that doesn't exist.....
