Hello all I am having some problems with the transmission in my 89 F150 with 5.0L and E4OD trans. I am hoping it is something simple like the kickdown cable being out of adjustment. I have looked but not been able to figure out how to adjust it. Please help. Thanks!!
I guess no one can help because there is no TV cable to adjust on an E4OD. It's all electronic. AOD 1993 and older have a Throttle Valve Cable though. Are you sure you have an E4OD?
I had the same problem you're describing on my '87 f150 c6 trans. I used a hose clamp mounted to the side of the trans. to take up excess play in the cable. It's been shifting fine now for 10yrs. and 70k. Look for an existing bolt close to the cable end, then drill a hole in a hose clamp to mount it. Run your cable thru the hose clamp, adjust the slack, then tighten the hose clamp. This should take care of any erratic shifting problems.
