It's the FTE version of a "like" button. On the upper right corner of the post, you'll see a little red heart. Click on that to "like" someone's post and it adds points towards that person's "reputation." You can see the clicks in your user CP page. It also adds the little green boxes under your join date and location so everyone else can see what a helpful fellow you are.
