Wink Fuel Filter Brands

I have been running a Racor fuel filter (in the stock fuel bowl) for a long time (type WITH built in top) with zero problems.

Bought a Purolator locally, installed same as the previous Racors and it keeps working loose......

Anyone else experience this?

I have purchased a new top and elements to use in the future.....

I have been running Purolator fuel filter for the last few months. So far no issues. I will keep an eye on it.

Go back to stock with stock lid. Lots of people had problems after changing brands.

The Racor filters are top notch in my book. Thought Purolator was good as well.

IF you smell fuel inside the cab and have a Purolator chances are pretty good that it has worked loose......the first time mine did I thought it was the fuel drain valve "O" rings leaking.....you'll need to start the engine with the cover off the fuel bowl to see if in fact that's whats leaking.

Do either aftermarket products have the water barrier that the Motorcraft filter does? I went to a diesel class and they had a whole spread of fuel filters on display, from many different manufacturers. I learned how inconsistent they all were from the original and from each other. I'm sure there are products on par with OEM... but I have no way to know which ones they are. Clay's got a boy to put through college, and I've got a truck that needs reliable parts... so Riffraff gets an order when I use my stuff off the shelf.

We'll said Rich!
I need to start using Motorcraft filters. I've been using purilator thus far with no issues.

Guys, A quick update: I FINALLY had a few minutes yesterday to take a look at my leak situation: The darn seal on the filter was leaking, so I tried snugging it up some which actually seemed to make it worse.
I took the old filter out and installed a new one along with the separate top that I'd bought previously.
MUCH better formed seal from the get-go, and no more leaks!

The filters that I bought were generic, but look like good quality (think the brand was "PTC")(Bought off Ebay) along with the top which is nice and stout and can be installed and removed by hand due to the vanes on it which allow you to grip it.

Besides the GREAT Racor filters which I never had a problem with I wish I'd swapped to the removeable top filters long ago.

It's rumored that Racor is the OEM supplier for the Motorcraft fuel filters. I've used Baldwin, Wix and Motorcraft. The only one that leaked was the Motorcraft, but all it took was a little extra snugging up to stop the leak.

Bob verifies that Racor supplies the Motorcraft fuel filter. The ones he sells are an exact equivalent to MC except without the box. I trust that he knows what he's taking about regarding this subject.

I use them as well with an OEM lid and absolutely zero issues.

Bob has them for <$19. If you order 6 you'd have a bunch of stock and get free shipping as well.

I only use Motorcraft after having a fuel fountain with a NAPA aftermarket filter. Ya, it’s more but it works and I've never had a leak again.

Looks like the factory filter. Steve do you use the factory lid with this filter?
