hey guys was wondering if anyone has run a summit racing carb on any of there projects have always run holley's but the summit has a little bit better of a price any info would be appreciated
Yuuup.. I picked one up for $235 a couple of years ago. Ran well on my 65 'Stang before switching to an Autolite 4100. I highly recommend Summit's carb... it's a Holley clone. Go for it.
My understanding is the Summit carb is cloned off of a Holley . So I assume the linkage brackets on the drivers side is the same ? The reason i need to find out is i will need to use the AOD , TV cable corrector plate made for the Holley . If not them my trany will not shift correct and i will have to keep the Edelbrock it's using now.
According to Holley the equation to figure this out is:
Engine CID (460) X max RPM (you plan on spinning) divided by 3456.
Lemme add that the equation above assumes 100 percent VE or "Volumetric Efficiency". Pure race engines typically achieve upwards of 90-95 percent whereas well-tuned street/stock engines generally achieve around 80 to 85 percent. Therefore, multiply the end result by .80 or .85 as a rule of thumb to size the carb... upsize slightly if the engine has a lumpy (over .480 lift) camshaft.
