93 F350 ,ZF5, 7.3 non turbo. I will be going down the road and it will blow a puff of smoke out the tail pipe and try to die( lack of fuel I think) I push the clutch in and it will die, don't push the clutch in and it will stay running but push fuel pedal and it does nothing. After a few min the fuel pedal starts working again? I checked all the rubber lines can't find a weak spot where its collapsing, New fuel filter and I just put a new fuel pump on it gonna check the tank for trash today and blow the fuel lines out with air compressor. If anyone has any other ideas I would greatly apreciatte it.
Well flathat you're gonna have to start with the basics. From reading other threads (which I highly recomend, you can learn a crap ton just by browsing) I'd throw out a guess that its going to be a fueling issue.
Does it misbehave while stationary or only when driving?
don't know how many miles on pump and injectors, i has done it when stationary and driving you never know when it is going to do it. I noticed today that when i turn my ignition on my cylanoid is going haywire, it go's click click click click click click! Could it be tricking my truck into thinking I turned the key off?
How many are on the truck then? Most say that the injection pump and injectors are 100-150k service items.
The solenoid you're hearing is probably the glow plug relay. That won't cause it to shut down or die when running but it will cause starting issues (e.g won't start below 40 deg F)
You have to force these engines to stop running if everything is up to snuff, they're that good.
Check to make sure you have fuel to the injection pump and to the injectors. Check your lift pump and make sure its good. New doesn't always mean good. Crack each injector line loose at the injector and see if any of the cylinders are dead, could be a bad injector too.
Google and youtube can be your friend to try and pinpoint you situation. Just remember we are all sitting at a computer trying to help you diag youre problem.
The truck is showing 239000 but the speedometer didnt work when i got it so your guess is as good as mine, the motor is strong and runs really smooth when its not misbehaving

With that many miles on it, if it has had an IP and injectors replaced previously, is getting close to another change. Does the IP or injectors look like they have ever been changed?
Here's what I would start with, look over all of your return lines and make sure they are all in good shape. Don't forget to look at the ones that go over the back of the engine and down the frame rail as well, I've seen some funky splicing down there too. Part of the fuel return system is the Olive seals, which you can see a picture of them in this thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...m-upgrade.html From what I have found out, these seals are an International specific seal, and can only buy it from them. You can eliminate a few of them if you do the mod listed in that thread, you don't have to get that exact tee, you can make your own with brass fittings.
Next, I would do a pop test on the injectors. Typically any diesel pop tester will work, they should open up at around 1800 PSI if I recall correctly. They should spray like a spray bottle, with no streaming or drips. Any streaming/drips means a bad injector!
Past that, check your fuel supply lines from your tank to your lift pump. You may have a bad lift pump as well, they typically run around $20 and are fairly easy to replace. Another thing to check is the gasket on the FF head, they sometimes are a pain to get to seal properly.
And finally, a new IP, as they are expensive, this is the last thing to replace.
I'm pretty sure I figured it out, I got to wiggiling the rubber return lines on top of the motor and 1 of the plastic connectors had a crack in it { it broke very easily } so gonna get one of those kits to replace all those little lines and connectors and hopefully it will run like a champ once more!!!
is the fuel system factory? if no mods have been made does it do this about 1 min after starting? if so it may have to do with the cracked return cap. however if it does it after running for 10mins or more it may be a cracked fuel line between fuel lift pump and tank, it will be a tiny crack in the rubber or plastic, or steal line, letting air bubbles in to the fuel system. good luck
Check your quality of fuel at the schraeder valve on the FF. IT should be clear of air and a solid horizontal stream. IF not, fuel lift pump is your suspect.
