So I searched the threads, and could not find anything that dealt with the topic of potential or even popular caliper upgrades for the f250. Anyone have a link?
Other option might be an aftermarket HD upgrade that I couldnt find, none of the popular brake manufacturers do calipers although almost all of them do discs (slotted/drilled/both).
Would be helpful if you had a signature saying what you had for a truck. Brad knows the difference between 2wd and 4wd but I don't....
I'd be curious if a 99+ superduty caliper bolt spacing was similar to the obs caliper spacing. Then there's the 05+ that had even bigger pistons for the f350
I haven't measured it on either one, but I could possibly measure a 99 superduty tomorrow.
Still have offset to measure as well, and rotor size. As long as the pad doesn't hit the hub you're good to go.
But no. There are no caliper upgrades like the 99+ superdutys. Oh well.
Get some nice cryo treated rotors and some awesome pads and call it good.
I am just going by his avatar. 1990 is pin on calipers and there is nothing convent about them
Yup. I always "loved " the rubber slider pins....
When did the bolt on calipers come out, 93-94 or so. My 95 has bolt on and I wanted to upgrade. Plenty of upgrades for 1/2 ton, but not 3/4-1 ton.
If serious about upgrading then op can look into swapping to newer knuckle and using bolt on calipers, if the superduty caliper has same spacing (and bigger piston)
It has me curious. Maybe I'll stop at parts store and measure them both when I have time.
I've smoked the brakes on my 89 more than once. The stock calipers are doing all the work they can, it's the rotors that can't take it. Rotors are where there is the most to be gained in brake performance on the OP's truck.
