Hi folks - can anyone confirm if this pipe plug is for an oil galley? I'd assume so. It's behind the fuel pump and directly below the lifter cover. I'm adding an electric fuel pump and would like to install the cutoff switch here rather than tee into the existing line for my oil pressure gauge. Would anyone happen to know the pipe thread for it?
It is difficult to tell from that photo, but I believe it is the oil galley, but would need a zoom out shot to tell for sure. If it is on a line with the oem location for the oil sending unit then it is the oil galley. Your psi will read a few p higher there than with a gauge run from the oem location and through a tube to your gauge on the dash.
As I said though, I need a shot of the side of the entire engine to say for sure.
It's level with the rear-ward OEM sending unit location, suggesting it's indeed for the oil galley. This one is toward the front, just behind the fuel pump. That's the distributor shaft directly to the right of it. No worries if it reads a few PSI different than the true pressure; just need it to tell if pressure is zero to shut off the pump. Oil pressure gauge is plumbed to the factory sending unit location (truck used to have idiot lights).
