Help identifying trans

Hi guys,

I've recently purchased a 1982 f150 xlt lariat with a 302w. I'm trying to figure out what transmission I have as I've searched for a while now and can't figure it out. The pan looks like an aod, 14 bolts and resembles the aod pan in the transmission ID thread. However the gear selector is P N R D 2 1. I assumed it would be different for an aod. The door jamb tag gives it the code T. Also the axle code is 15 and I'd like to know what that decodes to. Sorry if this is covered somewhere else but I just couldn't find it.

Thanks in advance

Trans Code T could be one of four automatic-overdrive transmissions, I'm going to guess you have the AOD, though.... the PRNDL (pronounced "prindle") should show the D in a circle....

Sorry got the order wrong its PRND21. Nothing has a circle around it. That's what's confusing me

Code 15 is a 2.73 rear. Code T is a AOD. Boy, that truck barely turns any rpm at speed.

Yeah I thought it was geared fairly low. Can't hear the motor anyway with the size of the mufflers it runs. I'd say the dash must've been changed, it's the only reason I see for the sequence.

The book says that's true only in 1983; in 1980/82 it means a 3.25:

3.25 seems to be a more reasonable gear for a AOD.
