Used SCT Questions

I purchases a used SCT X3 for $200. It is unlocked with 5 unlocks.
It came with 3 custom tunes: Ecomony, Street and Looney.
1. How do I know if these will work with my Strategy?
I have Strategy VXBC7...
The free tunes out here from Spartain do not include this strategy.
2. Can I use the VXBC9 tunes?
3. If I install any of these free tunes will it wipe off the custom tunes that came on the device?
4. Is there a way to pull off the custom tunes to back them off?
Thanks everyone. I'm new to tuning!

Good deal on the X3...

On to your questions...

1. How do I know if these will work with my Strategy?
A: The only way you will know what strategy these tunes were written for is to ask the seller.
2. Can I use the VXBC9 tunes?
A: If your strat is VXBC7, then you should not use VXBC9 tunes. Are the custom tunes on your new X3 writen for VXBC9? If so, I'd either go to the dealer and get an IDS calibration update that gives your PCM VXBC9, or just don't use these tunes.
3. If I install any of these free tunes will it wipe off the custom tunes that came on the device?
A: Spartan free tunes only went up to VXCF5/VXBC5 (I believe), so no, you will not want to use these on your device or truck...besides, they are kind of canned in a way...so not written specifically for your truck's PCM strategy. Any tune that you add now will make room on your device in position 1, 2, or 3...and subsequently delete the tune that was in that position from your device.
4. Is there a way to pull off the custom tunes to back them off?
A: No, but if you have custom tunes sent to you via email attachment, then you can store them on your PC or thumb drive for later use anytime. You should however, always save a copy of your trucks OEM or PCM flash file to your PC or storage device in case you ever need it.

Thanks everyone. I'm new to tuning!
