F250Hd AC fix
1989 F250hd. The AC system was disconnected on this truck when I got it. I was told it is not working. What are the typical failures in AC systems of that year? Is this something I can fix with junk yard parts? Replacing the compressor maybe? It is too expensive to replace the entire system with R-134.

Usually the compressor clutch has gone when someone totally disables it because they do not want to fix it and recharge the system. You can test that with some fused 12 volt leads.
Yes, junkyard parts are fine for a fix. Many yards have good compressors sitting on a shelf. The entire system is probably empty now, converting it is no big deal.
