Smile 1997 F250 HD

Any schematic of AC system components for my old-style F250 HD? Would like to see what other components I should replace in addition to the ac compressor...it just died. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

the only other thing that is good to replace is the drier. theyre pretty cheap and easy to replace. its the aluminum (or steel) cylinder in your engine bay. follow the lines off the compressor and youll find it.

that's assuming all of your other components are in good shape - lines, condenser, evaporator. the condenser is in front of your radiator...just check it for corrosion or destroyed fins etc.

After replacing components don't forget to clean the system and pull vacuum on it.

great info!

So, checked the condenser...it looks solid. Will replace the hoses and the evaporator core along with the dryer and compressor...sounds like I should be good to go! Many thanks!

Evaporators are the last to go, they're well protected from the elements. I won't stop ya from replacing it though, 20 year old parts who knows what's inside it.

I am planning on replacing the core...mostly because I'd noticed restricted air flow...thought it was the blower motor, so I replaced it. No noticeable change...and now that the compressor has died, figured I'd go ahead with replacing the core. Any suggestions on how to get it out of the black box in the engine compartment?
