I've tried those ones yeah. The little 'fins' aren't big enough. Like they don't catch.
Maybe mine is just missing something.. lol. But for sure those little white ones are just too short.
Mine are closer to this.. just black.
They work, just need some more.
Hey gfburke,
I'm fixxin' to go down to the shop. I'll dig the ones I got up and get you a part number and reply back shortly. The ones I got are the Auveco brand and I got 'em at NAPA. They're similar to your picture, just black. Worked like a charm for me.
Check back in a little bit. It may take me a while to dig 'em up!
Found them first look in the top of the tool box! Ain't never had that kinda luck finding anything before.
Auveco Products part number 15479. Comes 25 to a box and I think NAPA charged me about 8 bucks. They measure out to have a 1" diameter head and the barbed shaft is 1-1/2" long. Diameter of the barbed shaft is right at 5/16". The box label states the head dia. as 26 mm, stem length is 38 mm and stem dia. is 8 mm.
The link is to their catalog page and the ones I got are the second one down in the middle column. If after measuring you don't think they'll work for your application, click on the catalog link and dig through it 'till you find what you need. If Auveco doesn't have what you need, nobody does!!
Here is a easy source at most auto parts stores. The Ford ones are to short and do not have enough "gap" to easily slide in the back of the door clip pocket. But the GM ones work great.

I wish my door panels were of the same type as yours. Unfortunately, the panels I have must be cheaper knock off replacements. They're single panel with no batting and has through holes which require the christmas fasteners that push through from the front of the panels. My panels do not have the provisions on the door side, like yours, that requires the twist on fasteners that are hidden once installed.
Well just order some better reproduction ones and some batting from......

Here is broken one next to one I tried to match and buy locally. The
head is too wide to be able to push in all the way so the barbs have
something to grab onto. Thanks man, but yah, this new one has a 1in head..hmm
Yes, I have no batting either..
I'm dealing with the wire retainers on my 75 CS. Theres enough of the cove that they slip into and the foam that I can get them to set in place but not well enough to put the panel on the door. I was wondering if either 2 part epoxy or fiberglass resin and packed in tiger hair fibers would work to hold them in place or would it not bind to the panel. The tiger hair fibers are loose fibers, not in bondo. Would I have to make anchors from small head screws or nails, wire to hold in the epoxy, or resin or is this a tail chaser idea
