F-250 4x4 intermediate steering shaft seal replacement

I just did this today , 77.5 F250 4x4. I used a rack and pinion seal off of a 88-91 Camry. Beckarnley part number 1032684.
The Camary shaft is about 5,8 as opposed to the Fords 3/4 , so i whittled a little on it keeping the new hole small enough to be a tight fit.
The larger hole, bellow, was nice and tight . Took a heat gun to it and pulled it over with pliers. Very snug fit. Ultra black siliconed upper and lower.
Btw I had to die grind the tack weld on the ujoint assembly and smack it off , its 3/4 splined and pressed onto the shaft. Ordered an aftermarket piece to replace it.
It's still drying so i cant really move it around to take many pics, what few I have I'll upload in a bit.
Hope this helps.

All these have a ONE PIECE lower steering shaft and coupler assembly, there's no rubber boot or any of the other parts shown in this kit.
This coupler has a flange that the rag joint bolts to, then attaches to the input shaft of the steering gear box.

1966 F100 4WD, 1967/75 F100/250 4WD's have a multi-piece lower steering shaft and coupler with individual replacement parts including a u-joint, rubber boot.
This coupler uses a clamp and thru bolt to connect it to the steering gear box.

It does not. For one thing, there was no F350 with 4WD until 1979, for another 1967/75 F100/250 4WD's use the same exact parts.
1976/79 F100/250 4WD, 1979 F350 4WD, 1978/79 Bronco have a one piece lower steering shaft and coupler assy., that contains no replaceable parts.
Left/right 1978/79: Where are the parts located that are shown in this kit? No see um.

I have a 73 F250 with that coupler/ boot assembly that is shot. It appears as p/n 3B676 in the bottom right of your pictures. The boot is not shown. I also have a complete shaft from a 78 "snowfighter" that has the same coupler. The only thing keeping me from using the '78 is it is too short. The coupler is identical. The picture appears to illustrate two different steering box connections with the same part number.
OP- Check to make sure there is no radial play in that joint before you spend any money on it. The boot on mine was gone completely and after I removed it I found that part of the shaft itself is worn beyond repair. I am working to find a better system utilizing grease able, replaceable u-joints like at the top of the shaft.

3B676 is the basic part number for the 1976/79 one piece lower steering shaft and coupler assy. No individual parts were available for it.

1966 F100 4WD, 1967/75 F100/250 4WD lower steering shaft and coupler is also basic part number 3B676. This coupler is composed of multiple replaceable parts...as you can see.
Left: 1964/72 parts catalog / Right: 1973/79 parts catalog.
Boot is basic part number 3D510 / What usually wears out first is the u-joint, basic number 3815
This same u-joint was also used in BIG trucks (1963/86 C Series Tilt Cabs for one example), so it can be bought at NAPA and etc.
E2HZ-3815-A (replaced C3TZ-3815-A, C6TZ-3815-A & B) .. Steering Coupling U-Joint / Obsolete ~ Available NOS & from auto parts stores.
btw: Each Ford part uses a specific basic number, for example...every hood is basic number 16612, regardless if for a 1937 Ford Coupe or 2014 F150.
Every R/F fender is 16005, every piston is 6108, every fuel tank is 9002, every rear bumper is 17906 and etc etc etc. Adding the prefix/suffix gives the specific complete part number.
No one but FoMoCo uses this part number system.

Turns out CJ Jeeps use the same exact seal I ordered this off FleeBay, and it is an exact match. The price was WAY LESS, and it works perfect !!!
