I have a 05 expedition with the 5.4. The truck runs great after it gets running.
The problem is Unless the truck is stone cold it cranks and cranks for a long time before it actually starts almost like its not getting enough gas upon start or too much gas upon start.
Anyone else had this problem? What did you do to fix it?
Ive had all the coil pacs checked by a mechanic I thought that was the problem but they all check out good.
Also a new fuel filter was installed and fuel pressure was checked and is fine.
So im stumped.
its very frustrating because it runs like a champ when it actually starts
Some injectors could be sticking open and flooding the cylinders. Allowing it to sit until it is stone cold gives it time to stop dripping and for the fuel in the cylinders to dry up. Just my 2-cents.
I just had the same problem. Cold start was fine, but once warn, it would just crank for a long time.
For me it was the Fuel Pump Module Assembly.
I purchased this Dorman (OE Solutions) 590-001 Fuel Pump Module Assembly for $58.00 and solved my starting problems.
It's a well known problem with F150's and Expeditions. They mounted an aluminum sensor onto a steel bracket. The aluminum breaks down, and the computer board inside the module gets compromised.
Good luck.<!-- DO NOT change linkToTagId="rwid" as the catalog response has this ID set -->
