Front Fender Rubber

On a 48 how far does the rubber seal between the front fender and the cab come down? Does it stop where the running board filler starts? How much gap is there between the cab and fender? Thanks for any help in advance.

Hey Chuck -

I stopped mine about 3 inches from the running board. This was based on fit and look - so yours might too. The gap between the fender and cowl when assembled without the seal is between and quarter and three-eights inch, by my eyeballs and recollection.

Man, if you are worried about rubber parts, the maiden road trip can't be too far in the future.

Chuck, I am approaching that point also, however, the front fenders and hood will be last to paint since I want to test run it on the road a bit before limiting good access to the engine bay.
You caught my attention with fender and rudder which do not normally go together but they represent my two hobbies/obsessions.

The maiden voyage is not far down the road. The running boards get bed liner next week. I have the rear fenders and the headliner to do and it will be ready for the road hopefully before this summer. It all the problems like fitting the front fenders that really kind of get me down.

Hello, congratulations with your truck, it is coming along very nicely, and looks great. To amend your title, click on edit, then when it opens, click edit again. Now you can edit the title.

I know there are some differences between the 48-50 and 41-52's in this area, but don't you have filler plates that connect to the edge of the fender? On mine I ran the rubber all the way to the bottom of the fender and it seals against those plates. (hard to see the filler cuz it's black)

That picture tells me exactly what I needed to Know. I was not sure if I should end the rubber at the top of the filler or run it all the way down to the running board.

It goes BELOW the top of the running board, to the bottom of the fender (at least on 51-52's). More here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...questions.html

I think that it is amazing, when you put the seal in the right way it fills the gap quite nicely. Nothing like having another brain F__t

I also ran mine all the way down to the running board - it looked unfinished if it stopped at the top of the filler plate. I also used weatherstrip adhesive to keep it in place.

Those rubber dirt trappers run all the way down to the bottom of the fenders. My new ones came cut to the right length and with pre-punched bolt holes.
