changing oil..

Looking for some quick replays to go along with my searching, I'm thinking about trying a synthetic oil this change I've been using delo for yrs but after recently changing my injector o rings and getting a noticeable gain in over all driveability and smooth running I figured I'd try a lighter synthetic oil...so all that said...
Suggestions!!? Thanks guys

What ever oil you pick, synthetic or dino, just make sure it is 15W-40.

Also plan on oil leaks with synthetic. I don't knw what it is, but synthetic seems to pass by seals that dino oil does not

2 yrs on T6 and it's only just started leaking. But my oil cooler is in desperate need of attention. Truck seems to really like the T6 and oil analysis backs it up.

Synthetic doesn't cause leaks. It just makes the ones you do have worse.

Ok. let me put it this way. Dry engine with 50k on it. changed to synthetic, then had 2 different leaks. Puddle at from main and rear main would rip and burn on y-pipe.

Switched back to dino oil and NO LEAKS not even a damp spot on the bell housing or front main.

Synthetic made it leak

Synthetic made it leak
i have to agree with Brad on this one.
in my experience synthetic oils make leaks where regular oil will not.

example#1: my 04 pickup. went in for trans service. i made sure they knew regular oil only. got it back and bill was for $300, 17 quarts of synthetic.
i point to do not use synthetic oil on the work order, and refuse to pay for it.

the next morning i went to use the truck, and it would not go into gear. called the shop. they towed it out, and brought it back later after putting 4 quarts of synthetic oil in the trans.
the next day they towed it out once again. but this time they drained out all the synthetic and replaced it with plain old valvoline ATF.
that was 7 months ago and i have not added a drop of ATF since.

example #2: my 99 crown vic.
ford dealer did oil and trans service. same deal, work order had regular oil only, no synthetic.
get it back and tried to charge for synthetic oil and ATF.

100 miles later the car stops driving in delaware.
no ATF in trans, and 3 quarts low on engine oil.
underside of the car was coated with oil and ATF.
ford ate the cost of a new trans to replace one that only had 42,000 miles on it, and changed oil and filter for free. plus gave me a 30k mile warranty on the engine because the synthetic leaked out of the engine.
34,000 miles later, and no oil leaks in engine or trans.

Schaeffers 7000, a mix of dino & syn. I've had excellent luck and good lab reports. It also doesn't shear down like T6 did for me. In the trans I use Schaeffers all trans like John Woods and BTS uses.

Interesting topic.

PO bragged that the truck was dry no leaks which it was until, I switched to synthetic. I started having oil dripping down my bell housing. I never put 2 and 2 together.

Im intrested in the Schaffers
