Need help leasing!
).Anyways, without the sob story, I really want to stay in the Ford family, but I'm looking at leasing right now because I don't think I'm keeping a truck long term (just doesn't work for the city I plan to move to in another 2-3 years). I am working with a dealer here and he's trying to sell me on the leftover 2013's, but the prices seem atrocious for what you get!. An STX supercab with the 201A package and the 5.0 for 440$/m 0 down. That's basically the sticker price of 36500 with -3000 in incentives (33500). 440/m for this little bit of truck seems preposterous. I feel like I should be able to expect more off of these trucks being that they are 2013's. Or do they just have horrible residuals?
Competition wise I can get a 2014 Ram 1500 Big Horn with the hemi, parksense systems, backup camera, remote start, heated seats, 8.4" touch screen system, 7" screen in the dash for 400-420/m. Now this dealer that I have no choice but to work with is horrible, but I'm really hoping the forum can just tell me the dealer is trying to screw me over.
And it's not the money, I have no problem paying those prices, but there's a big difference in the comforts I get between those two
. I don't mind paying a little more for ford as I love ford, but I'm not going to ride in the most spartan of vehicles when I can get alot more for the money!
. Otherwise I'll just get the Fiesta and wait it out until the 2015 redesign is out and tested for a few years
.I've been reading that at this point it shouldn't be far fetched to get 9-11k off of a 2013's MSRP depending on the model. Is anyone else agreeing with this?
, that's usually for passenger cars. A lease can get you a better payment usually, and like you mentioned, your not going to keep it for years. But with a lease there are down's too. The condition that the vehicle needs to be in ( I mean CLEAN, inside and out), and there are penalties for going over on you miles. On a three year lease, you may be allowed up to 10K a year. Going over that can cost an average of .25 cents for every mile that you are over.
But still a $440 payment on a new truck with $0 down isn't bad. Truck prices are high, but they have come a long way.Unk Bob

) told me that really it's best to slightly underestimate your miles. It's better to pay more at the end (as long as you know you'll have a few hundred $$$ to throw at the overage, if you go over) than it is to "buy" alot of miles you won't use, and not get that money back. My average year is about 11k (closer to 10k), so like I have for my other leases I'll run the line at 12k. My civic was a lease, and my gf's dodge dart is a lease. I haven't had any issues with leasing as I keep my cars spotless. Any damage goes immediately to the bodyshop (always kept the expedition that way). I don't like a dirty grubby vehicle. This truck is for towing. It will be sprayed with bedliner, and will be used to move stuff but not hardcore. Also, ford and ram both told me that leases for trucks are leases for hard working vehicles. They expect the bed to be scratched (not rusted) and any dents that can be covered with a credit card are ok. It's in writing. I'm not sure if Ford does, but RAM waves the first 2k of damage on a leased Ram 1500. I will ask Ford when I get the chance. I hope to start shopping some Fords tomorrow.

Don't get caught up in the monthly payments, if you shop monthly payments you can get screwed in a hurry. FWIW you can get 2011-2012 low mile used trucks for mid $20K's and they shouldn't depreciate much past the high teens in a few years unless you abuse the crap out of them and put 100K miles on them.
As it stands I have a hard time paying $3K-$4K less for a few year old use truck over new.
If this will work here are several I looked at with the $9K-$10K off without any haggling:

Scroll down to the 2 black ones, those are the two I was looking at, EB XLT 4wd ext cabs MSRP around $41K list right now at about $31K.
