Guard dogs should never be kept on a rope or in an open area when the place they are guarding is open for business. They're there to protect the place when its closed. Tell the owner you get a super discount next time AND better see the dog on a chain if not fenced in with 6 foot fences. The owner is at fault if he doesn't correct the problem it's going to happen again.
Get better, keep it clean and get back to work on the truck - Bob's get together in WI is coming up soon
Damn, Dave, dog bites are not good. He probably smelled your wife's cookies on your hand and was hungry. As advised, keep it clean. Hope it doesn't slow down the build.
Reminds me of a canoe trip a friend and I took many years ago, before Deliverance.
We ported at a small campground, fishcamp to stretch our legs and a feisty little mutt came from nowhere and got me in the rear of the leg, just enough to draw blood. Being a whole lot younger and a whole lot more agile, I turned and kicked the dog. I think I actually got him airborne for a few feet. He dragged himself off, far away from me.
Man Dave that stinks! Hope that don't slow down your progress on the truck.
I remember a summer when I was 12 or 13, seemed every dog I came across had my number. I must have gotten bit 4 or 5 times.
Stay safe.

Down here in Cherokee County, they make you board the dog at a vet's or the animal shelter for 10 days to make sure it's not rabid. Sorry to hear about the bite.

You should have stopped carrying Slim Jim's around in your back pocket
A buddy of mine had a Rottweiler he used as a guard dog at his body shop.3
This dog was stupid friendly, would slobber all over you, weighed easy 160lbs. Unleashed, wanted the shop and semi fenced yard(front gate was always wide open during business hours.
Crazy thing is.... the things the dog did made you think twice on ever climbing over his fence or hell walking in the yard when the owner wasn't around.
This dog would pull moldings off cars (warning... do not drive in yard for an estimate)
For kicks my buddy would toss a mounted rim/tire (full of air) on the ground for the dog to play with. The first time I saw the dog playing with a tire, I went in and warned my buddy that the dog might hurt herself. He wasn't worried. Minutes later.... I hear the booming sound of a tire popping...
I walk outside the garage to find this tire half de-rimed and the dog tearing away at it.
Sorry to hear about the bite. I know many have already mentioned it but watch out for infection. Sometimes that stuff will be readily apparent and sometimes it might be days before you see it and by that time you are in for quite a ride.
hey doc....
too bad for you and the dog. he/she is only doing what the master wants. he/she was trained to do exactly what happened. don't blame the dog, please. the owner is the one. as you can probably tell I'm a dog person. its true that the same dog would curl up in your lap and lick your face instead of eating it.....if the master said "ok, fido". I've been bitten a few times and its no fun but rarely is it the totally the dog's fault
