I drove 15 mins to a pizza place and it drove completely fine. I go to leave after eating and start up my truck and it has an extremely rough idle. I give it some juice and its blowing serious black smoke but the idle smooths out once its over 1300-1500 rpm. Drove it back to my dorm.
Does not have a check engine light and it does not have a loss of power at all. I had one person on here tell me it could be a stuck/cracked injector. but i run injector cleaner fairly often so I just need a second opinion. I'm in college so for me to dish out for a new injector without being 100% sure is scarey for me.
truck has a hair under 200k, and I never tow with it. Just a daily driver.
It MIGHT be an injector. I am not saying it isn't, but I think there is a higher probability of it being something else. Do you have access to AE or any other code readers, Torque, etc.?
We have guys in Philly. I can't speak for anyone, but that isn't terribly far from there. Honestly, it is only a little over 2and a half for me. If I get my truck finished, it might be a good shakedown ride for me.
I didn't really word it correct in the beginning now that I re-read it. The truck started that whole mess and never stopped. i was just saying that at 1300-1500 rpm it isnt rough anymore unless it drops below 1300-1500 again.
So, after a long time before I could really work on the problem, I decided to take it to a shop rather than do this myself considering the cold and the lack of time.
Turns out it was one of my UVCH so they just replaced both of them and that helped it run much nicer.
It runs fine, no smoke and everything but he's saying it seems to miss pretty bad at idle and its a bitch to start.
I wonder if there is gelled fuel from it sitting that would cause that.Because it sat for well over a month before i decided to take it to a shop.
