Hey guys hopefully im just worrying about this and it will clear up.I just replaced 4 of 8 injectors.I only had a code for cylinders 1,4,8 but went ahead and did one more being thats all the extra cash i had.The problem is after i got done the truck had an extended crank about 20 seconds before it would start. After a few starts and a few miles of driving the extended crank has gone away but im getting a missfire especially noticeable at idle.I hooked up my scan tool and i keep getting codes p0611 and p0272 Injector balance?I had the p0611 before replacing the injectors, i also had the po272 as long as well as codes for injectors 1 and 8 for injector balance. Is it possible that the injector that i put in cylinder 4 is bad?Or could there still be air in the HPOP system that went away fixing the extended crank?Any help would be appreciated if anybody has experienced this or if there are any ford techsthat can chime in.Thanks again Ryan
Cyclinder balance and contribution codes can mean one of two things from my experiance.
1. Leaking and going bad. Missfire does speak of an injector going bad. Any other secondary characteristics? Unburned fuel smell, excessive smoke especially at idle?
2. The injectors aren't atomizing correctly. This doesn't mean that it is necessarly going bad on you, it's just not working efficiently. However, with the missfire I'm leaning towards option 1.
Both will cost you horsepower. You may or may not feel that horsepower loss, but it can cost quite about, upwards of 40hp for one injector depending on the issue and the severity of the issue.
Only other things that I can think of that would affect injectors are compression and/or o-ring failures and issues with injector cups. Could also very well have been bad installation.
Has anyone seen a new/reman injector bad out of the box?
I have but not seen in the sense of physically looking at it and it being bad, but I have seen one throw a contribution/balance code a couple of days after it was installed.
Im hoping that it will clear up but i doubt it.Hopefully Bow tie Hater can give me some insight.Im really frustrated that after 4 injectors ive got the same code popping up on one cylinder. Before the truck only ran bad for the first few minutes not it runs bad most all of the time.
