I have an 08 XL. I would like to put some kind of a pocket on the doors for storage. Does anyone know of a company who makes an aftermarket pocket
or tray for the doors. Similar to the factory ones on fancier trucks?
I assume you have manual windows/locks since I think they are the only door panels that don't come with pockets. a factory panel from a donor truck would fit but you would end up with the control panel for the mirrors and windows since that is part of the whole panel. You'd also have to cut a hole in the panel for the manual window lever to poke through.
When I had my panels off to treat the inside of the doors I didn't look to see if the armrest that would include the power switches could be removed, but I bet it can.
Several years back I put a couple of door pockets from a 1st gen Mazda MPV van onto my jeep YJ's half doors. IIRC they mounded to a flat panel with four screws.
Your best bets would be to hit the pull a parts for some older 80's 90's trucks and vans from back when door panels were flat.
Ok, I bought a super clean and well updated engine 07 F450 XL 4X4 which came out of florida which I am putting a 9' dump on, and on my long ride home I realized that even though I have not owned a Ford in almost 20 years, they still make a tough chassis, smell the same in side, and still group the weirdest things for options. I too noticed quickly the total lack of storage pockets, at all, the passenger has a tray on top of the dash board so in the event of a accident things can fly at their face, but not a single dash or door pocket, SERIOUSLY? Its a work truck, and I wanted manual windows, bench seat, etc, all I cared about was diesel, 4x4 crew cab w AC, but geesh plastic pockets modeled at the factory would cost what 5 bucks a side? Anyway here is what I found and seems to work well Map and Storage Pocket - Solid (Long Version) You can simply remove your door panels take some big headed 3/16" black rivets and rivet them to you door panels, just make sure to use a 3/16" fender washer on the back of the door panels to back it up. They make 2 sizes, the smaller should fit on the back doors, but I just did the front 2 for now. only have 2k miles on my new to me Ford but besides some things like this I kind of like it, This Chassis is a tank, and I hope this updated 6.0 and trans hold up, if so maybe my next personal truck could say super duty on it, till then Im rolling my 11 Lifted Dmax. Hope this helps guys!
