This made me sick...
What amazes me is that some guys will sit on a truck like that for years and refuse to sell it or they ask big $$$ for it and THEN scrap it cheap.
I had a 53 locally here that the guy wanted $2000 for. It was AT BEST a $750 deal. I offered him $800 cash. He acted like I slapped his sister (ok, maybe I dated his sister a long time ago, who's keeping track). Couple months later I saw him at the local Napa and asked about the truck. He grinned a little and confessed he hauled it to scrap and got around $250 for it. Claimed he lost my number. Another idiot without his money and another American treasure shredded... Sad, very sad.
They will call and say I will be up to look at it. I stay home and no show. I have people call and I have something advertised for 500 and they want to know how much cheaper they can buy it. I get tired of that stuff and crush it. I had advertised a 49 dodge coronet couple for sale for 500. It is a very build-able car. Had several people call and wanted to buy it for 350 etc. Told one guy, with scrap car body's here selling for 255 a ton, I would sell him a 4500 lb car that would scrap for 575 dollars for 350 Yea that is gonna happen. So sometimes I can either leave it in my place to rot to the ground or wait for who knows how long for someone to want it. Of course as soon as I crush something some one will whine about me crushing a valuable car. Where were you when I had advertised it for 4 months? I had 56 cars here 3 years ago so I am very well acquainted in trying to sell old vehicles. Don't have a lot cars left. Some were sold and are being rebuilt some were crushed. I hate to crush good vehicles too but sometimes that seems to be the only way to get them to leave. I have had people ask about a car and I take their name. A year or two later I call them and they want to wait till they sell something or want to buy it for nothing. Believe me there are two side to the crushing thing.
