The woman who worked there said it was a farmer and his son that had brought that truck and 2 other vehicles they gave them $500 for all three vehicles. She said that the farmer and son were very arrogant people.
Frank, didn't you send me a craigslist ad with a truck that looked very similar to that one about a year or so ago?
Ilya, I'd imagine they wouldn't sell it to him. Plus, even if they did, they're gonna want probably MORE than scrap price to go through the hastle of pulling it out of that pile, loading it, etc. On the other hand, Frank obviously wouldn't want to pay more than scrap price, or probably less now considering the condition it's in now. So, I imagine that's a stand-off that won't resolve itself. It's headed to China I'm afraid.
People like to complain about old vehicles/parts getting scrapped. But they aren't lining up to buy the stuff when you try to sell it. I spent almost a year trying to sell a good rebuildable 8BA Flathead engine and transmission with no luck. So I ended up pulling the parts off it I thought I might be able to sell and scrapped the rest. A lot of the parts got scrapped too because they didn't sell.
Not everyone has the room to store the stuff forever, until someone decides they want to buy it.
Then again others just want the stuff gone and don't want to deal with all the BS of trying to sell the stuff.
I'm looking for some yard art - flower pot - just like that. My wife saw someone had made a flower bed out of an old truck & she's been trying to get me to find one.
My issue is I'm not dropping $500 or more for a darn yard decoration - maybe $250 but you know what I mean - that rusted pile would have worked just right.
I just hate to see one go like this. These trucks are getting harder and harder to find. Before they caved in the cab (and everything else) the truck actually looked like it could have been a decent start for a build for someone. Idk it just sucks seeing one thrown away like that. I would have tried to save it before they crushed it with that bulldozer but apparently I was a day late. The lady told me they had brought that truck in the day before
Wow that truck was more complete than the one I am trying to save! What a waste.
