Checking accessories while changing serpentine belt

Today I am changing the serpentine belt out and installing a RedHead gearbox. (they had very fast shipping, btw)

All of the wheels look good, but the two without any teeth as well as the waterpump wheel had some rubber residue on them from the old serpentine belt. I went ahead and sanded that off.

The top wheel has a tiny bit of play in it. I'm not sure how concerned I should be as it was not making noise before.

I noticed that the waterpump wheel and fan can be turned somewhat independently of eachother, but I guess this is so the fan doesn't snap off when the engine is shut down.

Other than that, all looks well. Any pointers on inspecting the wheels for the rest of the accessories like the alternator, PS pump, etc.? They are turn just fine and have no play in them.

mileage can have some indication of service life, but p.s. pump would be impacted more from oil change intervals,& your fan is mounted to your waterpump through a clutch fan that saves fuel & noise levels in your cabin,by running at lower rpm until needed.I would be more concern with your water pump condition, which is impacted by coolant maintenance as well as mileage, and condition of your drive belt tensioner they have been knowned to fail with higher mileage.the rattle & visual test is good.

Ok, I have coolant filtration installed. I changed out the filter after about 6 months (I know, but coolant was still flowing through it) and cut it open. I found it was pretty clean. That's something nice for a change!

Alright, I will install the new serpentine belt then. Good stuff!

By the top pulley do you mean the idler? If it has play I would probably change it out as I'm sure they're fairly inexpensive and personally I've had a couple seize up

Tyler, I am mistaken! It is indeed the idler pulley. I was thinking of the tensioner for some reason.

It has a tiny amount of play in it. You can see it as it is turning. Very slight but it is there. I am going to swap this out.

Does anybody have any suggestions on where to get one from?

I got new Ford oem from Autonation Ford (Tousley). They are a vendor here and have great prices for FTE members. Both idler and tensioner were around 76.00 as I remember. They ship out quick too.
