Is the muffler supposed to have a drain hole? Mine is leaking condensate out of the seams on both ends. There's a puddle under the truck everytime I park it
I would say its normal, condensation is normal and part of the combustion process. If it's excessive than you may have a crack somewhere and water is getting in. But I doubt that I think you would know if you had an exhaust leak. So yeah all in all it's pretty normal.
I was wondering if there's a weep/drain hole is plugged up and condensate is leaking through a rusted out seam instead. I don't think I have an exhaust leak-- at least none that I can hear.
A close visual inspection will allow you to determine if rust is an issue . You need to get under the truck and inspect . If you are not able to do this inspection yourself , take it to your normal repair facility . They should be more than willing to inspect your muffler .
This is normal. After about 30 min crawl under there and take a look to double check to see if thats where its coming from. More than likely it is. That is 100% normal. Not to worry.
When your motor gets up to operating temp, and the exhaust system gets hot, the water (which is a byproduct of burning fuel, and your cat converter) turns to water vapor.
However, if its blowing water and vapor after at least a ten-mile run, and the engine is not running cold, it would indicate coolant getting into the combustion chambers, a serious situation. After a hot run, open the hood and grab the top radiator hose. If you can hold it, it's running cold. Many thermostats these days fail 'cold'.
