F150 2006 Transmission Problem
Before New Years, I was driving my truck home after work and it was feeling almost as if i was driving with the brakes on, as if something was holding it back. I pulled into my driveway and when I tried to reverse...nothing. Gave it a little gas and it kicked backward (aww crud here we go). My brother was a mechanic till he became an operator and he has rebuilt transmissions before so we dropped and took a look at it. We came to find that a small bearing with springs had shattered below the planetary gears and sent the small dense metal bearings into the planetary gears causing them to catch and grind.....replaced it all with new parts ordered from the Ford Dealership and got a rebuild kit and replaced clutches and so forth. I drove it and it had fixed that problem and was alot better but it still felt as if something is holding it back. The gears also kick and shift hard when accelerating and when letting off the gas and decellerating, it shifts back and forth back and forth. It is currently taken apart again and there is no wear or tear anywhere on any of the parts. We are at a loss. He wants to say maybe Torque Converter is the issue but we are both losing faith and are unsure at this point. We are wondering if anyone else has any insight on the problems we've been experiencing? We have also hooked it up to a computer and no fault codes come up. If nothing works, well I will take it to a shop but I really wish I could obtain the knowledge and fix it on my own.
