Walker Muffler / Tailpipe

Replaced the factory muffler and tailpipe on my 08 6.8L f350 today. The original tailpipe rotted out where the resonator is. Since the muffler and tailpipe come from the factory in one piece, I had to replace both.

The new muffler sounds pretty much like the old one. Maybe a touch quieter. One thing I did notice, is that the new Walker muffler, does not have any drain holes. Should I drill one or will that void the lifetime warranty?

Thanks!

A drain hole would make sense, but don't know about the warranty.
Is the muffler stainless steel?
From what I've read their muffler for our 2002 is stainless, but the pipes are not.
A drain hole would allow moisture in the muffler to drain out, but if it's SS it might not be needed.

Walker claims it is 100% 409 stainless. Having said that, I believe the original factory muffler is as well, and it has two holes, with one at each end. The outlet is at the top of the muffler, so it will not be self draining.

Fired up the truck this morning, after very cold temperatures set in last night. [-18C] There was a steady trickle of water coming out of the bottom front of the muffler from behind the heat shield. There must be a drain hole there already from the factory.

I was looking to do the walker pipe replacement as well. My 08 also rotted at the resonator aND the muffler is leaking a touch. Could you tell me, does the new pipe have one in it? Also I have a factory stainless tip I'd like to keep, is the replacement pipe OE size?
Thanks in advance.

The walker tailpipe does not have a resonator, and is full size. You may be able to cut some off and install your stainless tip.

The part numbers are 21725 and 55627. You will also need 2- 3" muffler clamps.

Hope that helps.

I went and checked rock auto after I posted and came across a pic of the tailpipe and it does now show no resonator. I wonder if it will make a difference in sound on mine. Looks like 45 or so for the pipe and 100 or so for the muffler, seem correct for what you paid? Thanks again.

I paid much more than that, but I'm in Canada. Parts are always more expensive up here.
