We would strongly suggest getting only Motorcraft valve cover gaskets. We have seen a lot of trouble from Dorman, so I would save yourself the trouble down the road. Here is the Ford part number and what price you can try to get them to match.

Are you talking about the metal valve cover or the gasket?

What goes wrong w/ Dorman? I just changes out all my glow plugs and opted to replace the gaskets w/ Dorman. With the UVCH issues, the dorman seems to be the right way to go. (I did the 0.50cent fix a few years ago after one of mine worked loose)

Its been rumored that some have been found to be wired wrong, as in changing the firing order.

Well, let's just say they aren't going to China for the quality

Usually we run into wiring issues, burnt pins, loose pins etc.

I just did my passenger side harness with a dorman because of a burnt glow plug pin in the original oem gasket. The one I got from dorman was a 1 piece gasket and internal wiring harness. There was no connector on the inside of the gasket. Was yours like this or a 2 piece?

No, Dormans is a one peice, which I think is a good benefit over the 2-piece Motorcraft design. I did 'adjust' some of its connectors for a tighter fit to GPs and Injectors. (Probably more personal preference tho)

The kit comes with the truck side wiring harness pigtail which is nice to keep for testing.
