I want to do some mods to get better power and gas mileage from my truck. It's the 4.0 V6 Sport Trac (2001). All the other Sport Trac forums I've tried were no help, so first of all, what are the "must do" or popular mods for this truck?
All I've heard so far are exhaust/headers and a tune...anything else?
I'm not sure if I want to spend the money for a full/cat-back exhaust system, but will just a (Flowmaster) muffler alone do anything? What would be the best muffler to go with, without it being too loud?
I might want to get a dual exit or side exit (in front of rear wheel?) pipe with the new muffler. Where can I find these kits?
If I dont get the exit pipe, is there any problem with having the exhaust exiting out of the muffler under the car??
For intake mods, is a K&N open intake kit worth it, and does it actually do anything for this truck?
Or is it better to just modify the stock air box or get a K&N filter....
I also plan on getting a tune or buying a Xcal2
Bump..........
If I get just a Flowmaster muffler, probably a super 44, will I notice an increase in power/gas mileage at all?
Will I have to do any welding to switch the muffler or is it a bolt on?
